Hello, everyone! It’s April already and I think it’s high time I told you about some interesting events in this semester. To tell the truth, I can’t say I’ve done much, but still I’ve learnt a lot of useful things and improved my skills in the sphere I love. So, and what are these events?

It’s easy to guess that I will be talking about Models UN. Of course, I learnt about this activity long before I entered the university, but this year is the first for me in Model community. At first I tried my hand at participating in a small Model of LUNN just to gain certain experience and not to be very nervous that something can go wrong. I should say despite the fact I didn’t like some things about it, I used this chance to make sure that I can work effectively and find different solutions to global problems. My first step in the IR field was quite hesitant, but there is no doubt I will remember it as a nice moment.

Continuing with this, I understand that being a delegate is exciting, that’s why I don’t want to stop practicing. And I was lucky to find HSEIMUN in St.Petersburg which was held online. Unfortunately, I can’t go to Moscow this year for several reasons, so HSEIMUN was an ideal option for me. I must admit this Model was difficult for me, because I took part in ECOSOC and a discussion of an economic agenda was really complicated. But my colleagues had a great background, and they helped me a lot. I’m very thankful to them and our president for giving advice and supporting me. By the way, our president Amanu is only a second year student, but he is extremely good at international law and has already participated in 56 Models! He is such a motivated person and he inspired me to work harder. The Model lasted for three days, during which we had heated debates and informative lectures, for instance, one of them was about how to build a career in the United Nations. As you can see, I enjoyed this Model and liked its professional organisation.

To sum up, I think my public speaking and critical thinking skills have improved. And I will try to develop them more in order to be proud of myself in the future.

Yours,

Karina
